South Walton Battles in Five-Set Heartbreaker Against Niceville
SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. — South Walton volleyball pushed one of the region’s premier programs to the brink Monday night before falling 3–2 (25–22, 16–25, 25–18, 23–25, 14–16) to Niceville at the Hawks Nest. The Seahawks moved to 14–7 overall following the five-set battle that showcased balance, determination, and poise against one of Florida’s top 6A teams.
Senior middle blocker Jordyn Swift led South Walton with 18 kills on a .371 hitting percentage and added 4 total blocks. Junior outside hitter Maci Jones finished with 21 kills and 12 digs, continuing her consistent offensive production.
Junior setter Evelyn Brandman recorded 44 assists and 12 digs, while senior libero Kamryn Garcia anchored the defense with 21 digs and 3 service aces. Senior outside hitter Ella Driggers contributed 8 kills, 6 digs, and 2 aces. Senior outside hitter Corrine O’Connell added 9 digs, 2 blocks, and 2 aces.
Sophomore middle blocker Ava Hummel finished with 2 kills and 3 digs, while senior Lindsay McMahan added 8 digs. Senior middle blocker Laurali Douglass chipped in 2 blocks.
As a team, South Walton totaled 64 kills, 88 digs, 44 assists, 12 aces, and 10 blocks. Despite the setback, the Seahawks demonstrated depth and grit throughout, forcing a fifth set in one of their most competitive matches of the season.
