Defending Champion Chiles Sweeps South Walton in Tri-Match
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – August 23, 2025 – South Walton fell to defending 5A state champion Chiles 3-0 in a tri-match format, as the Timberwolves demonstrated the championship-level execution that carried them to the state title last season.
Junior outside hitter Maci Jones led the Seahawks attack with 7 kills on 28 swings, while junior setter Evelyn Brandman distributed 10 assists across the three sets. Senior middle blocker Jordyn Swift contributed 3 kills and 2 blocks, with junior middle blocker Laurali Douglass adding 2 kills and 1 block to showcase the depth of South Walton's middle attack.
The Seahawks defense was anchored by senior libero Kamryn Garcia with 6 digs and junior defensive specialist Lindsay McMahan with 3 digs. Junior opposite hitter Corinne O'Connell recorded 1 kill while contributing to the team's serve receive efforts, and senior outside hitter Ella Driggers added 3 kills in the challenging contest.
Chiles controlled the match with their powerful offensive attack and championship-level defensive intensity. The Timberwolves applied consistent pressure throughout all three sets, showcasing the depth and experience that has made them one of Florida's premier 5A programs. Their balanced offensive distribution and disciplined defensive execution limited South Walton's scoring opportunities while building comfortable leads in each set.
The loss moves South Walton to 1-1 on the season after facing quality 5A competition. The Seahawks will remain in the tri-match format to face 5A opponent Beachside next.
About South Walton Volleyball: South Walton High School competes in FHSAA Class 4A District 1 under head coach Meaghan Allen. The program has established itself as a consistent playoff contender, reaching the Class 4A Elite 8 last season and winning five straight district championships since 2019.
