5A Chiles Takes Straight-Sets Match from South Walton at the Hawks Nest
South Walton fell to 5A Chiles 3-0 at the Hawks Nest, with 13 kills on .444 hitting from Maci Jones and 14 assists and 4 kills from Kailey Gorman.

SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. - September 28, 2026 - South Walton fell to 5A opponent Chiles 3-0 (23-25, 21-25, 18-25) in a non-district match Monday night at the Hawks Nest.
Senior outside hitter Maci Jones led the Seahawks attack with 13 kills on 27 swings for a .444 hitting percentage. The Southern Miss commit added 9 digs, an ace and a block.
Senior outside hitter Corinne O'Connell added 8 kills and 8 digs and handled 14 serve receptions. Senior setter Kailey Gorman went error-free at the net with 4 kills on 5 swings, while distributing 14 assists and recording 2 blocks.
Junior setter Bianca Savi ran the other half of the two-setter offense with 11 assists, 7 digs and an ace. Junior middle blocker Ava Hummel posted 4 kills and a team-high 3 blocks.
Senior right side Sydney Downing contributed 4 kills, 6 digs and a block and served 15 times without an error. Senior libero Lindsay McMahan anchored the back row with 5 digs and 2 aces and led the team in passing on 14 serve receptions.
Senior defensive specialist Macey Waldrop took 13 serve receptions, and sophomore middle blocker Henley Beauchamp added 2 digs, 2 assists and a block. Junior defensive specialist Colbie Winters and sophomore defensive specialist Amelia Hutson each served clean in their rotations, and freshman defensive specialist Sienna Montoya gave quality minutes in the back row.
Chiles took the opening set 25-23 and the second 25-21, then pulled away 25-18 in the third to close the match.
The loss moves South Walton to 16-6 overall. Chiles, which leads 5A District 2, is the latest upper-classification opponent on a schedule built to prepare the Seahawks for the 3A postseason.
The Seahawks next host Taylor County on Monday, October 5, followed by home matches against Arnold and Mosley.
