South Walton Sweeps 4A District Rival Fort Walton Beach
SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. – South Walton opened 4A District 1 competition with authority, sweeping district rival Fort Walton Beach 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-18) on Tuesday night to claim their first conference victory of the season.
Junior setter Evelyn Brandman orchestrated South Walton's dominant offensive performance with 32 assists on 58 attempts, directing a balanced attack that saw junior outside hitter Maci Jones lead with 15 kills on 28 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Jordyn Swift provided exceptional efficiency at the net, recording 6 kills on just 8 attacks for an outstanding .625 hitting percentage.
South Walton displayed impressive depth and balance throughout the dominant performance. Junior opposite hitter Corinne O'Connell and senior outside hitter Ella Driggers both contributed strong offensive efforts, with O'Connell adding 6 kills and Driggers recording 7 kills to support the attack. Senior libero Kamryn Garcia anchored the defense with exceptional floor coverage, while junior middle blocker Laurali Douglass made her presence felt at the net with key blocks and defensive plays. Senior defensive specialist Annabelle Centeno provided crucial contributions with timely digs and steady defensive play throughout the sweep.
As a team, South Walton recorded 44 kills, 33 assists, 23 digs, and 7 blocks in the sweep. The Seahawks demonstrated the balanced attack and defensive consistency that has defined their championship culture, controlling the match from start to finish against their district opponent.
The victory moves South Walton to 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in district play. The Seahawks will next travel to face North Bay Haven on Thursday, September 4.
